Privacy Policy

Hakken is operated by Eigenstack Pty Ltd (ACN 697 589 969), based in Zetland, NSW, Australia. This policy explains what we collect and why. The short version: we collect what the product needs to teach you well, we use it to run and improve Hakken, and we never use your data to train AI models.

Your account details (name, email, and — if you sign in with Google — your Google account id). Your learning content: what you tell Hakken in interviews and tutor chats, including voice conversations, plus the courses, progress, checkpoint answers, and feedback that come from them. Usage records (how much of the capped features you've used), a log of the emails we've sent you, and standard technical data like requests and errors.

To run Hakken: build and adapt your courses, remember where you are, synthesise audio, and send you the emails you've opted into. To improve the experience: we review how the product performs — including evaluating the quality of interviews and generated courses — and fix what falls short.

What we don't do: we do not use your data to train AI models, and we do not permit our AI providers to — content processed through the Anthropic API under our agreement is not used for model training. We also never sell your data or share it for advertising.

Hakken runs on a small set of third-party service providers, each receiving only what its job requires: cloud hosting and file storage, a managed database, AI model and speech providers, email delivery, and product analytics. Our AI provider is Anthropic; content processed through their API under our agreement is not used for model training.

One more we're required to name: lessons can embed public YouTube videos, and to find and verify them Hakken uses YouTube API Services. This involves no data about you — we look up public video details only. If you choose to play an embedded video, it streams directly from YouTube and Google's Privacy Policy applies to that playback.

These providers operate largely in the United States, so your data is processed outside Australia. We choose providers whose terms are consistent with this policy, and we'll tell you which providers we use if you ask — email hello@hakken.me.

We use an essential cookie to keep you signed in, and a first-party analytics identifier tied to a bare user id — our analytics never receive your name or email. No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking. Embedded videos are click-to-play and use YouTube's privacy-enhanced player — nothing loads from YouTube until you press play.

We keep your data while your account is active so your courses keep working. To delete your account and its data, email hello@hakken.me and we'll take care of it.

Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles you can ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it — email hello@hakken.me. If you're unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll tell you by email or a notice on the site before the change takes effect.
